Honeywell makes a very large line of programmable electronic thermostats. At first glance, this particular thermostat has nothing to distinguish it from any other programmable tstat from your local hardware store. (7-day programming, +/- 1 degree accuracy, etc.) However, this thermostat has some functions that make it quite a bit better. I've had RiteTemp's and Lux tstats, and this one is much better.

Most electronic thermostats kick on the system when you are one degree under, and then run it until you are one degree over. This (and all Honeywell electronic tstats) instead target a certain number of cycles per hour (based on system type), and try and hold the temperature as constant as possible. Since I installed this a few days ago, it has not budged off of the setpoint.

Another cool feature is the recovery feature. Basically, it measures how quickly your house is losing heat (or warming up, in the summer), and kicks on the system at the correct time so...

I had bought this for use on my Carrier Heat Pump with Auxiliary heat. I had a hard time figuring out if it was compatible with this configuration but this is the unit you would want. It was only a couple of bucks more for the touchscreen so I went for it.

Amazon shipped it out to me from a warehouse that is only about 20 miles from my home in Indy and for some reason it took 10 days from the time of shipping! That was a disappointment but once I got it here it was easy to install and setup even for my complicated setup. I read some reviews that complained about the back light feature not being easy to turn on and I do agree with that problem which is the only reason for the 4-stars instead of 5. To get the back light to turn on, you have to hit a button on the screen which ends up changing something that you may not have wanted to change or gone to a menu that you did not want. A non technical homeowner's experience in installing and using this thermostat.
I purchased two of these thermostats through the Amazon website and installed them just before the start of the Memorial Day weekend. I am very pleased with both thermostats, but I did encounter a problem during the install of the upstairs thermostat. Although I had flipped the breakers labeled for the upstairs and downstairs heat pumps to the off position at the panel, the upstairs heat pump was still receiving power, because I blew a fuse in the heat pump during the install. Obviously this problem was caused by a lack of due diligence on my part - ensuring that the power to the heat pump and to the thermostat was really off. My wife and I went without air conditioning to the upstairs of our home for approximately 30 hours before a service technician arrived to find and replace the blown fuse.

If you have a volt ohm meter, I suggest that you verify that there is no power to the thermostat prior to the install. In doing the install yourself, you may find that you are at...

This review is from the perspective of a novice. I replaced an 11-year-old thermostat with this one yesterday morning.

Installation was not a breeze as the claim on the product package would like you to believe (i.e., "designed to install in 15 minutes or less.") We have a 5-ton split central unit with the condenser outside of the house, and the coil and a gas furnace in the attic. Matching the wires to the new thermostat was not that straightforward. Our old system has 5 wires but the Intallation Guide only shows an example with 4 wires. After failing a few configurations, I finally gave up and called for technical support. The puzzle was then resolved.

Programming was mostly simple and easy but not always intuitive. You do need to read the Manual to figure a number of things out. An alternative may be the 8500 Touchscreen model, which seems to have more intuitive programming based on reviews from Amazon users.

Overall, I would recommend this...

I've been staying with some folks for a while and noticed that they manually emptied their dehumidfier daily. They've been doing it for 8 years!

I installed this pump in no time and they'll never have to empty it again!

This pump works great. Very basic, but it does the job nicely. It makes very little noise. Turns on / off smoothly and quietly. Pumps for a few seconds to clear out the basin and then goes back to rest until it fills again.

The pump does not come with either inbound or outbound tubing / hose, so you will need to buy them separately.

Also, I found the instructions a bit skimpy and less clear than they could have been. You just need to read it closely and do a bit of fiddling to get it to work properly.

As elsewhere mentioned in these reviews, a key thing is to ensure that the water / condensate source (i.e., the dehumidifier or AC unit) is higher than the Little Giant pump. This allows the water to flow easily...

Well i just got the ac unit like 2 days ago...... from previous reviews I already knew i was going to get insulation for the hose and the window -so I did. i set it up on a high sturdy table just below the window ran the hose ,insulated it and the window . turned it on and cold air was right there ,although it was 96 degrees outside and 85 in my room as i was installing it . long story short -its quiet ,its smooth , its looks very modern and hi-tech with its blue screen and the remote works perfect.my room dropped 9 degrees in 12 minutes flat ..... was hanging at 69 degrees in an hour and got as low as 65 over night to the point i had to put the temp back to 70 because me and my wife were to cold!!

We were very excited to try something to keep our living room comfortable and not have our A/C running for 16 to 18 hours in a day. This has done the trick. We set it up quickly and easily ... and it was able to cool the room that has high ceilings and is a 385sqft room down nicely. We keep the house set at 80 during the day and the living room would get well above that, but with this it stays at least at 80 or lower all day. With record high heat here in south Texas... Nice product at a great price
Unlike most cabin air filters, the Fresh Breeze is impregnated with carbon and baking soda to reduce odors. It is hard to tell how much difference it makes, but the price is lower than for competing name brands. Physically the filter seems to be well constructed. I don't have a fancy laboratory to do any in-depth testing, but what mortal does?

Amazon's application fitment guide for this part is messed up. I know for a fact this size fits a 2003 Honda Accord and a 2006 Acura TSX, even though Amazon says it doesn't. Check the fram.com website to get the correct number for your vehicle.

Most Underlined Buyer Review : Easy DIY Maintenance
I too have been told anywhere from $90-$120 by my Honda dealer to have this filter replaced. Sad thing is that I unknowingly paid such an amount ($90) as part of a 30k mile service.

Now that I know better, I tell the Honda service person up front that I do not need the cabin filter replaced...I can do it myself. Still, they never fail to recommend the filter be replaced and I kindly tell them I can do it in 5 minutes for $20. Last time it was,'Look how gray this thing is, I've never seen one so dirty'. I immediately pulled out my iPhone, pulled up this filter on Amazon, and pointed out that it is a charcoal filter and should be that color...and told them the exact date/mileage I replaced (b/c I knew this would come up).

One improvement FRAM could make is including a maintenance sticker for the cabin filter door/lid. Like one you get for oil changes. I plan to tape my own little note with such info when I replace mine in two months.
