I received this item about 7 days back and am extremely pleased with the product. I had an Honeywell MM14CCS 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control - Black/Silver and I would never buy again. Up until now so good. Cannot be even worse than the Honeywell MM14CCS 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control - Black/Silver Also if you registered it on line you got an added 2 months warranty.

Quiet and cool
This portable a/c unit is for a room that is about 650 sq/ft with a 500 gallon hot tub in the middle and a 15 foot skylight. Both the skylight and hot tub contribute to the temperature in the room. The a/c handles the heat fine. We never get much over 85 degrees, but the skylight kind of turns the room into a greenhouse, so it feels hotter.

The sticker on the front of the unit (very annoying, by the way and requires Goo Gone to get rid of the sticky residue) said the unit could be assembled in minutes. That's pretty true with one exception. The spacer piece for the window has little holes to use for adjustment. Of course MY window width didn't work with any of the holes. That was no big deal, I just drilled a hole where I needed it and it fits fine.

The hose from the window to the unit is really heavy duty and makes it tough to get the plastic spacer to stay put. I'm glad the flexible hose is really tough as I'm sure it will eventually get stepped on...

Most Underlined Buyer Review : A nice alternate to running my normal ac for the entire house
I have the unit in the master bedroom, and I love it!!! I live in Las Vegas and have a 2900 sq ft house. What a cost savings to be able to cool one room without having to cool the whole house! I turn the unit on as I'm getting ready for bed. In 15 minutes or so, the room starts to cool down. By the time I'm ready for sleep, the room is comfy cozy.

Some things you should know about the Honeywell MM14CCS:

1. Although the unit has wheels and is advertised as portable, don't think you can simply roll it from room to room. A semi-flexible exhaust hose directs the hot air generated by the air conditioner to the outside. As a result, you need to have access to a window if you intend to use the cool option (the unit can also be used as a fan to circulate air or a dehumidifier).

2. The exhaust hose is somewhat cumbersome and requires that you allow for much more space than the 14 inch (or so) width of the actual unit. I suggest you allow at least 3 square...
